Central to Tauranga, (45 minutes), Hamilton (75 minutes) and Auckland (95 minutes).

The area is well served with sports and service clubs, restaurants, cafes, arts and crafts, a hotel and a very progressive Surf Club. Walking tracks abound. There are some 10 golf courses within a one hour drive, including the Waihi Golf Club ten minutes away. Enjoy the hot mineral waters at Athenree on the way home (5 minutes).

The Bowentown Boating and Sport-fishing Club is situated at the southern end of the Beach. It links the Tauranga Harbour to the ocean by the Bowentown entrance, where two calm water beaches make for safe boating, swimming and water skiing.
